Senior adviser for former President Donald Trump Jason Miller told Newsmax on Tuesday that the ongoing scandals of Hunter Biden are "leading up" to his father, President Joe Biden.
"We have testimony now that Joe Biden joined over 20 phone calls of Hunter and his shady foreign businessmen," Miller said during an appearance on "John Bachman Now." "This whole thing stinks. I think it leads all the way up to Joe Biden."
According to Miller, Monday's testimony by Hunter Biden's business associate, Devon Archer — in which he said Joe Biden spoke with his son's foreign associates more than 20 times on the phone, and made personal appearances at several "meetings" with those people — shows that the president lied in 2019, when he said he never discussed his son's business dealings or had any knowledge of what he was doing with the foreign entities.
"We know back in 2019, Joe Biden said he had never spoken with Hunter regarding his foreign business dealings," Miller said. "That is very clearly a lie. When Joe Biden was on the debate stage with President Trump in 2020, he said that his son did nothing wrong with regard to [Ukrainian energy company] Burisma. How would Joe know that unless he was intimately involved with the business dealings of Hunter and the rest of the Biden family?"
Miller said that it appears Biden is using his perceived "incompetence" to justify his claim that even though he did have "casual conversations" with his son's business associates, he did not know what matters they were discussing, or the nature of deals being made.
"Typically, there are certain protocols that are in place for who a vice president or who a president gets on the phone with," Miller said. "To have a conference call with shady foreign businesspeople just magically appear for vice president, that doesn't happen with a lot of other people not knowing about it."
Miller said it is a "bad answer" for the administration to say that Joe Biden was not aware of what was happening.
"That's not a good answer," he said. "That is a bad answer to say, 'I am so out of it. I'm so essentially checked out [and] incompetent' that he didn't know who these people were."
Miller also said that just having Biden on the phone, or in person, to greet the people was all that was needed because the "work" had already been completed on the deals.
"The work is done well before they introduced Joe into this situation, so everything would be set up," he said. "So, all Hunter had to do was say, 'Yep, I can get the vice president of the United States on the phone, or at dinner.' That's all Joe has to do. The work was done before that."
