Rep. Jordan to Newsmax: Biden Cover-Up Used 'Left's Template'

By    |   Tuesday, 03 June 2025 10:53 AM EDT

Democrats' defense of former President Joe Biden's physical abilities and mental acuity adhered to the "left's template," Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Newsmax on Tuesday.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., recently sent letters to five former prominent Biden administration officials to appear for transcribed interviews in June. The committee is investigating the cover-up of Biden's mental decline.

"I think we already know," Jordan said on "Wake Up America," of Biden's mental state in the final years of his presidency. "I mean, I think [the investigation is] worthwhile, what Chairman Comer is doing. But I read [Jake] Tapper's book last week. … Yeah, everyone knew.

"It's funny: I think the big the big takeaway for me is the press. I mean, [Newsmax was] reporting the facts, but the mainstream press was telling us, Oh no, everything is fine."

Jordan said many Democrats and media embraced a template used when they want voters to believe "a lie."

"I always say the left has a template that they follow," Jordan told co-hosts Sharla McBride and Marc Lotter. "The left will tell a lie. Joe Biden's just fine. ... The mainstream media will report the lie. Big tech will amplify the lie. And then when you tell the truth, they call you a racist or some other name and attack you. And then pretty soon, your position is proven right. But by that point, they're on to the next lie." Jordan added. "But the country understood it. So that, to me, is the big takeaway."

"When you read the book, there was a handful of people around the president and the first lady who sort of controlled it all nice and clean and … these key people around the president, according to Tapper's book. So maybe it'd be good to hear from them. But I think some of them will claim executive privilege and won't want to talk, but we'll see what kind of information we get. I think the country's already figured it out," said Jordan.

Jordan added that "the real question" is, "Did the president know what was getting signed" by the autopen?

"I don't think it's a problem that, you know, there was an autopen that signed it, every president uses that," Jordan said. "[But] did he really know what was going on?"

"And, you know, we saw instances in the four years he was president where it sure looked like he didn't. Most notably, of course, was the debate that sort of changed everything."
