Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Newsmax Wednesday that President Joe Biden's latest gaffe, asking if the late Rep. Jackie Walorski, R-Ind., attended a hunger forum, shows that he has lost the capability to "project strength" as president.
"It's sad when you are commander in chief of the greatest country in history; you have to project strength from the Oval Office,” Jordan said during "Prime News" Wednesday. "It's just critical in foreign policy; it is just critical to be able to lead; and, unfortunately, we all know that this president doesn't do that. He doesn't have that capability, and it's sad to see because he's president of the United States of America, the greatest country in all of history."
Biden seemed to forget that Walorski, a champion battling against hunger, died in August when he asked if she attended Wednesday's event.
"Jackie, are you here? Where's Jackie," Biden asked while recognizing other anti-hunger advocates in Congress during the White House conference on hunger, The New York Times reported.
Walorski and two congressional aides were killed along with the driver of a second car in a head-on collision Aug. 3.
The gaffe, The Times reported, led to a barrage of criticism on social media questioning Biden's mental acuity.
Reporters grilled White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about the incident during the daily press briefing.
"The president was naming the congressional champions on this issue and was acknowledging her incredible work," she said. "He had — he had already planned to welcome the congresswoman's family to the White House on Friday. There will be a bill signing in her honor this coming Friday."
When asked later if there was an issue with Biden, Jean-Pierre repeated her answer and dismissed the main question about his mental fitness for office, calling the reporter asking the question "rude."
"Look, I know this is a question that many of you have had. I've answered it multiple times already in this room. And my answer is certainly not going to change," she said. "All of you may have views on — on how I'm answering it, but I am answering the question to the way that he saw it and the way that we see it."
Jordan said it was a typical example of how the administration keeps lying for Biden.
"These are the same people that told us the border's secure. These are the same people told us that inflation was temporary. These are the same people who told us if you spend a boatload more money, it will help inflation. These are the same people who told us they got an energy plan, but that energy plan is to drive gas to $5 a gallon a few months ago," he said. "I mean, how many times did they tell us things that are just aren't actually accurate, just aren't true?"
