John McLaughlin to Newsmax: Biden Presents Catch-22 for Dems

Pollster John McLaughlin told Newsmax Saturday that with only a month or so to the Democratic National Convention, the Democrats are facing down a Catch-22 scenario that could end up costing the party the election in November.

President Joe Biden remains the presumptive Democrat nominee. But due to his increasingly poor polling or his apparent health condition, he is facing calls from within his own party to step aside, McLaughlin told "Wake Up America Weekend," adding that the Democratic Party doesn't care about his health.

"The real dilemma ... is if Joe Biden can't be the candidate, he can't be the president. So Joe Biden really would get pressure at that point to resign the presidency because if he's — if they're saying they're doing this because of age," he said.

"I don't think they care about Joe Biden's age or health at all. They just care about the polls.

"And what's going on right now, they're trying to force him out. But they don't have a better choice because they're all responsible for inflation, open borders, and a weak U.S., etc.," McLaughlin continued.

"The policies are the same, so they all lose. But if Joe Biden says, 'I can't be the candidate anymore,' and leaves it up to the bosses to pick and replace the primary, well, you know, then why are you the president?

"I mean, can you last till January? You're really sick. You should step aside. You should resign," he said.

"That pressure will come from the right, that pressure will come from the center, and the Democrats will still have a major problem."
