Former U.S. attorney Joe diGenova told Newsmax on Monday that President Joe Biden not only pardoned his son Hunter Biden but also his co-conspirator when it comes to profiting off the family name.
The president on Sunday pardoned his son of a possible prison sentence for federal felony gun and tax convictions, reversing his promises not to use the extraordinary powers of the presidency to benefit his family members.
DiGenova said the pardon covers the time right before Hunter Biden joined the board at Ukrainian energy giant Burisma Holdings Ltd. through the present day.
"That covers all the crimes under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, all Joe Biden's crimes, all the crimes of the rest of the family," diGenova told "American Agenda." "And it takes Hunter out from underneath all of that."
DiGenova noted the pardons don’t prevent Hunter Biden from being subpoenaed in front of a federal grand jury or Congress.
"And if he lies during any of those appearances, he can be prosecuted for those lies," diGenova said.
DiGenova said he would like to see Congress hold hearings on the pardon.
"I think it's very important that they establish how this occurred, why it occurred," he said.
