Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., told Newsmax on Thursday that newly appointed Attorney General Pam Bondi will "restore confidence" in the Justice Department and the entire U.S. "judiciary system."
The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Bondi, former Attorney General of Florida, by a near party-line vote of 54-46, with Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., being the lone senator to break with his party.
"People want strong law enforcement," Hoeven said on "Wake Up America." "They want to feel safe in their home and in their communities, and safe when they travel around the country. And they want to know the border is secure. This is one of the fundamental reasons that President Trump was elected."
Hoeven went on to applaud Trump.
"He's doing a great job of doing all the things necessary, including putting a great attorney general in place like Pam Bondi … to make sure that we're safe in our community," Hoeven said. "And that's something people very, very much want."
Hoeven also predicted that Kash Patel, Trump's nominee to head the FBI, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the nominee to head the Department of Health and Human Services, won't have much trouble getting confirmed by the Senate.
"I really think that it's going well," Hoeven said.
