Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., told Newsmax on Thursday that Kash Patel, President Donald Trump’s nominee for FBI director, is “the right man for the job at the right time."
Trump nominated Patel, a former federal prosecutor at the Justice Department, to head the FBI and replace former Director Chris Wray, who was appointed by Trump in 2017 and resigned just before he reentered office.
Britt, in an interview with “Wake Up America,” said that Patel is one of Trump’s “best picks” to lead a federal agency, adding that the president “knew exactly what he was doing” when he nominated Patel.
"He knows that these different agencies and departments have got to get back to working for the American people, that’s exactly what Kash Patel is going to do,” she said, ahead of Patel's Senate confirmation hearing.
“Today he's going to lay out his vision,” Britt said of Patel. “As you saw, he laid it out in The Wall Street Journal showing us how he's going to get back to a common sense approach, letting FBI officers ... be FBI officers.”
Britt said, “We’re going to have agencies and departments that are back to their core mission, Kash is the right man for the job at the right time. He will execute President Trump's vision and give people respect and confidence back in the bureau.”
