Kristi Noem is tailor-made to be Homeland Security secretary due to her experience at various relevant jobs, as well as her upbringing, Sen. Kevin Cramer told Newsmax on Tuesday.
The North Dakota Republican, who knows Noem well after serving three terms in Congress with her, told "Wake Up America" that she has many factors going for her to do a good job carrying out her duties as Homeland Security secretary.
Cramer said her credentials start "with her eight years in Congress, where she learned and understands how to maneuver Congress, not a small matter."
He added that Noem was also a governor [of South Dakota], saying that "governors deal with FEMA, they deal with immigration, they deal with work visas, they deal with the fentanyl crisis, and bringing that executive experience is really important."
But Cramer stressed that what "I would say most of all for Kristi is that she grew up on a ranch."
He explained that "ranchers in the Dakotas protect their children, they protect their home, they protect their livestock... this is someone who know how to fight for the right things."
Cramer also said that he does not have any doubts about Senate approval for any of the nomination hearings coming up that the mainstream media is calling controversial.
He admitted that some of the nominations "are sort of out-of-the box picks, but then Donald Trump is an out-of-the box president."
In addition, he pointed out that there is already a third of the cabinet confirmed, which does not even include four more nominations that have received bipartisan support at the committee level.
