Sen. Cramer to Newsmax: Republicans Obligated to 'Do Big Things'

By    |   Wednesday, 06 November 2024 12:03 PM EST

Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-S.D., is thrilled to have Republicans again in control of the Senate, he told Newsmax on Wednesday.

Republicans have already flipped three seats in the upper chamber, giving them 52 seats, with several races yet to be called.

"The makeup of the Senate is huge," Cramer said on "National Report." "Whether you're in a divided government or a unified government, the Senate is the firewall."

The majority means the Senate can use budget reconciliation to pass tax policy and appropriation policy.

"That gives you a tremendous amount of leverage and responsibility to do big things in a hurry. And there are some big things that need doing," Cramer said. "And we do have to hurry because of our fiscal house and the economic opportunities that this presents, require immediate action. I’m enthused about working with President [Donald] Trump again."
