Liz Hirsh Naftali to Newsmax: The World Must Show Up for Hostages

By    |   Saturday, 28 December 2024 02:48 PM EST

Hostage advocate and author Liz Hirsh Naftali told Newsmax on Saturday that with over 100 hostages still being held by Hamas after 448 days in captivity, "the world must show up for this humanitarian crisis."

Naftali is the author of the book "Saving Abigail," which details how her then-3-year-old grandniece Abigail was abducted by Hamas terrorists after both of her parents were killed during the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attacks.

In an appearance on "Saturday Report," host Rita Cosby asked Naftali what her message to the world would be, and she answered, "Show up."

She continued, "So I think my message to the world is, Where are you? You must show up for these hostages. You must show up for this humanitarian crisis.

"And we have seen quiet. We have not seen a loud outburst and people from across the world and leaders."

"And we are at this moment where it's been 448 days. And so many people in Israel and across the world don't have their loved ones," said Naftali, adding that she wrote the book because the world needs to hear the stories of those captured on that day. "We need to figure out how we stop this fighting and release these hostages. And we are in this unique position.

"You have President [Joe] Biden's administration working around the clock, but they are coordinated, and they are in working with the incoming Trump administration. And it's this moment where the world needs to see America."

"Doesn't matter — Democrat, Republican, Jewish, Christian. We're all in this together, and we all need to put pressure on the nations that can put pressure on Hamas to release these hostages," she said.
