Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, while praising White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt for the answers she gave during Friday's briefing, ridiculed a reporter's accent and called for the foreign press to be removed from the White House briefing room.
The Georgia Republican's comments on X came when she shared a post about the briefing from an influencer who lauded Leavitt and showed a clip from her comments, including the question from a reporter who appeared to speak with a French accent, reports Newsweek.
The reporter, whose name and affiliation have not been reported, asked Leavitt about Trump's push to eliminate DEI hires from the Federal Aviation Administration in the wake of the deadly Washington, D.C., plane crash.
Greene wrote in her post that Leavitt is "doing a wonderful job! Bringing sanity and common sense and throwing it in the faces of the nasty legacy media."
Then, she questioned the reporter who had asked the question.
"How about that accent from that reporter? I think we need to throw out all the foreign press! American media first!" Greene posted.
The congresswoman, in addition, praised Leavitt for telling the reporter: "When you are flying on an airplane with your loved ones, do you pray that your plane lands safely and gets you to your destination or do pray that your pilot has a certain skin color? I think we all know the answer to that question."
Greene's demand comes after Leavitt announced during her first press briefing Tuesday that the administration is welcoming "new media" members, as well as influencers and podcasters to get White House press passes. The White House has since gotten more than 7,000 press pass requests.
