Former NFL player Marvin Washington, who was part of the Denver Broncos' Super Bowl XXXIII championship team, told Newsmax Saturday that he has "no idea" how the Kansas City Chiefs can defend against the Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback sneak.
On Sunday, the Chiefs will look to three-peat as they take on the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. EST from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in Super Bowl LIX, a rematch of the 2023 championship.
"That's something that the Eagles have perfected. And I think opposing coaches are getting frustrated with it," Washington, who also played for the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers during his 11-season tenure in the NFL, told "Saturday Agenda."
"And it might be looked at this offseason and rules committees. But as long as it's working, they're going to keep doing it. And nobody has stopped them yet."
Asked if he is "happy with the concussion protocols now in place," Washington said, "It still hasn't changed in over 20 years. And the NFL has made some rules to make game safer.
"But there's no way that you're going to stop a concussion through equipment, through rules, or what have you. It's going to come through science.
"And I believe there is science out there, particularly in the industry that I'm in with CBD out of the cannabis plant that has been shown to be a neuroprotectant and an antioxidant for the brain in relationship to concussions. I think the NFL needs to follow the science on that," he said.
