Rep. Mike Ezell to Newsmax: Biden Trying to Flip Script on Border Crisis

By    |   Wednesday, 31 January 2024 10:28 AM EST

Rep. Mike Ezell, R-Miss., told Newsmax on Wednesday that President Joe Biden and the Democrats are trying to flip the script and blame Republicans for the border crisis caused by their immigration policies.

"President Biden and [Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro] Mayorkas are not doing their job," Ezell said on Newsmax's "Wake Up America." "They could take care of this in a matter of a few weeks if they would just follow the law that's on the books right now.

"The American people are demanding that we do something. ... You can secure the border with the men and women that you have in Border Patrol right now if they would just allow them to do their job. But Mayorkas and Biden are putting plans together, policy together, to keep the men and women of law enforcement from doing their job."

Ezell called Biden's claims that he has done all he can do to secure the border untrue and said that the president does not need to wait on a bill from Congress to act.

"They created this crisis; now they want to try to get us to throw more money at it, so they can continue to nursemaid these people coming across the border and give them all these free benefits," Ezell said. "And this is absolutely ridiculous. They created this crisis. They created policy that does not allow the men and women of Border Patrol to do their job.

"I've talked to those men and women down there; I went to the southern border, spoke to them firsthand. They're being made to make sandwiches and play nursemaid to these people coming across here, which could be easily stopped. 'Remain in Mexico,' do the things that were going on when President Trump was in office, and we can get this under control in a matter of a very short period of time. They do not want to secure this border, and they want to try to blame us for the crisis they created."

The Mississippi congressman said that the 1.8 million known gotaways "didn't come here to do us well" and said the Democrats are "hell-bent at stopping" the GOP from upholding the will of the American people.

"They created this crisis, but we're going to do everything within our power as members of Congress to stop it," he said.
