President-elect Donald Trump has a "very clear agenda" and his proposals will likely start with deregulating energy and stimulating energy production, Dick Morris, one of his advisers, told Newsmax on Saturday.
"Mao Zedong said power comes from the barrel of a gun [but] I think Trump feels power comes from an oil well and I think you're going to see action on energy at the opening bell," Morris said on Newsmax's "Saturday Report."
Trump is also determined to crack down on illegal immigration, "understanding that is the crime of our times and that much of the crime we're seeing ... is partly attributable to the open border policy," said Morris.
He added that Trump will implement his agenda "fairly quickly."
"The news media always focuses on the difficulties he would have but I think it's more important to see the successes he's going to have very quickly and very significantly," said Morris.
Meanwhile, Trump has called to end the debt ceiling, and Morris agreed that it will "become a footnote to history."
"I don't think it's going to be very significant at all," he said. "I think that what is going to happen is that he will revisit the normal method of using appropriations bills to govern and to lay out his agenda."
But, significantly, Trump got elected "spelling out in great specificity what he's planning to do. This is not a work in progress," said Morris.
