North Carolina's Republicans are going into Election Day with an unprecedented early voting lead of 41,000 votes, "so we expect a great day today," state GOP Chair Jason Simmons told Newsmax on Tuesday.
"You have now 1.4 million plus Republicans that have gone out to vote, and we still have over 90% of our Election Day vote from 2020 still to come out," Simmons told Newsmax's "Wake Up America." "So we encourage everybody to make sure to get in line, stay in line, and cast your vote."
Embracing early voting this year has allowed Republicans to bank their votes, and as a result, "Democrats do not have a single county out of all 100 counties where they have more votes than they did in 2020," said Simmons.
"We're continuing to surge," he added. "Democrats are continuing to show that they do not have enthusiasm on their side. And we're ready to fire [Vice President] Kamala Harris."
Former President Donald Trump has held several rallies in North Carolina over the last month, and his messaging on the economy and "especially the southern border and the crime that comes with it" have hit home with voters, Simmons said.
"People can't afford four more years of Kamala Harris in this economy, which has just been a burden upon everybody," he added.
Voters in western North Carolina are especially frustrated at the "lack of federal response" after being hit hard in late September, said Simmons.
"It's going to be a long road to recovery and we need President Trump there to make sure that western North Carolina is not forgotten," he continued.
Residents in that part of the state have turned out in "record numbers" during early voting, so "we're expecting a huge day across western North Carolina."
He also dismissed polls showing more women voting for Vice President Kamala Harris, noting that women are concerned about public safety and the economy, or the "issues of the pocketbook," which is bringing out "suburban women who are coming out for President Trump in record numbers."
Meanwhile, some states are promising to deliver final voting results on Election Day, but Simmons said that changes in some counting procedures may cause a "little bit of a delay" in North Carolina.
"Historically, we would count the early vote in absentee ballots throughout the day, but they will not start the count of early votes until after polls have closed at 7:30 p.m. so that will be a little bit of a delay. We're not talking about a significant delay, but maybe an hour to 90 minutes where we would typically have that first tranche of data as soon as the polls close. So we will anticipate a slightly longer night."
