Paul Vaughn, a pro-life activist recently pardoned by President Donald Trump, told Newsmax on Tuesday that he is inspired by Trump's swift actions and leadership, emphasizing the importance of restoring fairness and justice in the federal government.
Vaughn, who appeared on "The Chris Salcedo Show," strongly supported Trump's leadership and justice reform approach and contrasted it with what he described as a lack of fairness in the current federal government.
"I think it's great. I think it's amazing," Vaughn said when asked about Trump's efforts to reshape the government. "We normally talk about the president's first 100 days in office, but I'll take the first 100 hours that we've had from President Trump. It's refreshing to see someone doing, you know, the work of the executive and standing up and being a strong leader."
He continued, praising Trump's focus on justice. "It's about recognizing where things have gone astray and trying to make them right," Vaughn said.
Vaughn was sentenced to three years of supervised release under former President Joe Biden's Department of Justice for his involvement in a pro-life protest outside a Tennessee abortion clinic in 2021. Vaughn and 10 others were convicted of violating the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.
Earlier this week, he received a full pardon from Trump.
During the interview, Vaughn also criticized what he described as partisan corruption in government institutions.
When asked if it was time to remove individuals who undermine the system, Vaughn replied, "Absolutely," My wife and I were talking about that earlier today, and she said she had some other recommendations for him. It certainly points to a larger character issue in our nation — people [who] are willing to be bought and sold for the sake of politics and ideology don't have any business in a government that's supposed to be fair and impartial."
Vaughn emphasized the importance of fairness and accountability on both sides of the political aisle.
"I wouldn't want my enemies in this case, who have come against us, to be treated the same way we were. It's just — it's unjust. And it's not what a nation that is supposed to be known for freedom should be known for," he said.
Vaughn's case drew national attention as part of a broader debate on the FACE Act and its application. His pardon highlights Trump's ongoing efforts to position himself as a champion of justice reform and a critic of partisan overreach in government.
