Rabbi Shmuley Boteach told Newsmax on Wednesday that President Donald Trump is "the only person who actually cares about the Palestinians and their future."
On Tuesday, Trump announced the U.S. would take over the Gaza Strip saying during a White House Press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, "We'll own it ... We have an opportunity to do something that could be phenomenal ... the Riviera of the Middle East." Trump’s statement was met with swift rebuke from across the political landscape.
Boteach dismissed the naysayers and said the world "finally has a president who is courageous enough to state what needs to be stated."
"The Palestinians deserve a future. They cannot be used as leverage by the Arab governments or the Europeans, or anyone else who hates the Jews for living in squalor, living in refugee camps so that Israel can be delegitimized as the occupying nation who took their land," Boteach said during an appearance on "The Chris Salcedo Show." "The only person who actually cares about the Palestinians and their future is not the emir of Qatar who doesn't give a damn.
"And it's not Egypt and Jordan or Saudi Arabia, and it's certainly not the Europeans. His name is President Donald Trump."
Boteach also took issue with aides in the White House "walking back" Trump’s bold proposal. "Give me a freaking break. We elected President Trump because he's not controlled by his aides. He controls his aides. And who the hell are the personnel at the White House to walk back this bold, courageous, and astonishing plan?" he asked.
