Rabbi Jacobson to Newsmax: Why Is the World Not Decrying Hamas?

By    |   Monday, 13 November 2023 07:17 PM EST

On Monday, dean of the Meaningful Life Center, Rabbi Simon Jacobson, speaking to Newsmax, wondered why the world was not decrying the terrorist group Hamas for using hospitals as cover.

When asked by "American Agenda" how it can be reconciled that Hamas would use underground tunnels near hospitals and hospitals themselves as bases, Jacobson says, "This is the crime – the crime of history."

"Why the world is not crying out at Hamas — how could you do such a thing? They're killing their own people as part of their strategy," Jacobson added. "Their only way to really try to invoke any kind of support is by beaming and streaming images of children in hospitals being killed."

"Israel is bending over backwards, as I understand," the rabbi continued, "to try to get those children out, to try to get patients out of the hospital. Hamas is not allowing it."

According to a now-deleted tweet, the Israeli Defense Force justified that hospitals were "legitimate military targets."

On Monday, the IDF wrote that "Hamas, ambulances are used to transport its operatives and weapons to disguise them as civilians, and hospitals are, in fact, terrorist infrastructure… not the most medical purpose. This is against international law and turns them into legitimate military targets."

Also, on Monday, the IDF tweeted that Israeli soldiers had delivered 300 liters of fuel, but the Al-Shifa hospital rejected it. According to the United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the Al-Shifa hospital, "which is the main hospital in the Gaza Strip, consumes around 650 liters per hour but has the capacity to store 135,000 liters of fuel."

It has now been roughly five weeks since Israel cut off electricity and fuel shipments to Gaza.

When asked why he refused the 300 liters of fuel, Al-Shifa hospital director Muhammad Abu Salmiya told Al Jazeera that he refused to take it, "as it is very dangerous for anyone to collect" in the current warzone.

"Israel wants to show the world that it is not killing babies," Abu Salmiya added. "It wants to whitewash its image with 300 liters of fuel, which barely lasts 30 minutes."
