Rep. Robert Aderholt, R-Ala., reminded viewers on Newsmax on Wednesday that although the House is holding a hearing regarding the possible impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the crisis at the U.S. southern border, the blame for the crisis falls squarely on President Joe Biden.
"There's just a lot of concern in the House of Representatives and in the Senate about what's going on at the border," Aderholt told "American Agenda." "We're right now focusing on Mayorkas, but really it comes down to Joe Biden, the Biden administration. And that's where it's all stemming from.
"Mayorkas, of course, is hired by the Biden administration to do this. So while we're really focusing on Mayorkas, the real problem is the Biden administration itself."
Aderholt is not a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, which heard Wednesday from the attorneys general of Montana, Oklahoma, and Missouri about how their states have been affected by the lack of immigration enforcement under Mayorkas.
But he was part of a House Republican delegation headed by Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., that visited the southern border town of Eagle Pass, Texas, last week.
"The word had gotten out that particular day that we were going to be there. And so we understand the cartels were actually not sending people in the direction where we were, but there were still people coming," Aderholt said. "It's estimated there in Eagle Pass $32 million is made by the cartels at the Eagle Pass entry point alone, and so it's just showing you that it is a big business down there.
"We have got to get a handle on it."
