Physician and Kansas Republican Sen. Roger Marshall told Newsmax he would support Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s campaign to make America healthy and that he had warned Democrats, ahead of Kennedy's hearing on Wednesday for secretary of Health and Human Services, not to try to fool him because he would call them out.
After commenting on the "shrilling" outburst from Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., during the hearing, Marshall told "Rob Schmitt Tonight" that he had "warned" Democrats that if they "try to fool Bobby Kennedy, he's going to flip it back on you and he's going to make you look like a fool."
"So anyway, regardless," he added, "I'm all in on Bobby Kennedy. I want to help make America healthy again. I look forward to working with him.
During the hearing, Warren tried to extract a commitment from Kennedy not to sue vaccine manufacturers if they are found liable for some crime or otherwise. Warren stated that Kennedy would personally gain from such lawsuits.
It was unclear, however, whether she was referring to Kennedy benefiting from suing vaccine manufacturers — during, before, or after — his prospective time as a secretary of Health and Human Services.
Moreover, it is unclear how Kennedy would benefit from such lawsuits undertaken by HHS while collecting a government salary.
"You can appoint a vaccine panel that shares your anti-vax views and let them do your dirty work," Warren began. "You can tell them to remove a particular vaccine from the vaccine schedule. You can remove vaccines from special compensation programs, which would open manufacturers to mass torts.
"You can make injuries eligible for compensation even when there is no causal evidence. You can change vaccine court processes to make it easier to bring junk lawsuits. You can turn over FDA data to your friends at the law firm, and they can use it however it benefits them. You can change vaccine labeling.
"You can change vaccine information rules. You can change which claims are compensated in the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program."
"There are a lot of ways," she added, "that you can influence those future lawsuits and pending lawsuits while you are secretary of HHS. I am asking you to commit right now that you will not take a financial stake in every one of those lawsuits so that what you do as secretary will also benefit you financially down the line."
Kennedy replied flatly, "I'll comply with all the ethical guidelines. You're asking me not to sue vaccine companies."
"No I am not," Warren shrieked. "Look, no one should be fooled. As secretary of HHS Robert Kennedy will have the power to undercut vaccines and vaccine manufacturing across our country. And for all of his talk about 'follow the science' and his promise that he won't interfere with those of us who want to vaccinate our kids, the bottom line is the same: Kennedy can kill off access to vaccines and make millions of dollars while he does it.
"Kids might die, but Robert Kennedy can keep cashing in."
During the hearing, Kennedy repeatedly called for transparency and a scientific approach to studying the potential risks of medical interventions.
