Israel’s airstrikes against the Houthis are a fight against the last of the outer ring of Iran’s “axis of resistance,” Robert Wilkie, former Veterans Affairs secretary told Newsmax Friday.
“Hamas has been demolished,” Wilkie said on “National Report.” “Hezbollah has been demolished. And now you have the Houthis, who are the last large element of the Iranian proxy system. Now Netanyahu is turning the full force of the Israeli air force on the Houthis, and then next will be Iran.”
Wilkie said Iran is a puppet master, working with both China and Russia.
“When you start knocking out China's appendages like the Iranians and their ability to strangle the Middle East, strangle oil supplies, strangle shipping lanes, you weaken China in the end,” Wilkie said. “The Iranians are … playing a very dangerous game. The Israelis have shown they can strike the Ayatollahs any place they want, any time they want. And I think the next target after the Houthis go will be Iran.”
With President-elect Donald Trump set to take office next month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will have support he didn’t receive from President Joe Biden, Wilkie said. He also dismissed the UN, who condemned the Israeli airstrikes.
“Nobody takes the UN seriously,” Wilkie said. “The UN agencies have been tools for Hamas and Hezbollah. If Israel went out of business, the United Nations would go out of business. Eighty percent of the docket of the UN Security Council, its Human Rights Council, and the General Assembly is anti-Israel. That's all they do. And there's no corresponding condemnation of Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, or the Iranians.”
