Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., told Newsmax on Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump picked "an all-star group" for his administration.
Several of Trump's nominees for Cabinet posts and other top positions in his government have come under fire, including secretary of defense pick Pete Hegseth, who was accused of sexual assault in 2017, an allegation he denies, and his nominee for director of national intelligence, former Democrat Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, for her ties to Russia.
Marshall, appearing on "Wake Up America," praised Trump's choices despite the controversies, predicting that Hegseth will "be a transformative secretary of defense" if confirmed by the Senate.
"He's got the charisma, the personality, the leadership skills, communication skills to make our make our military great again," Marshall said.
Marshall also discussed Gabbard, noting that he knew her during their time in the House of Representatives together and that "she's a person that's very caring, she's well informed, and she's going to support the president's agenda … to make America great again."
"I'm going to hold my final judgment until I sit down with her and make sure that our goals are the same, but I think that I'll be able to support Tulsi based upon my past experiences with her," Marshall said.
Marshall said he has no concerns about any of Trump's other nominees to Cabinet and high-level federal posts, saying that voters "want transformative change, this is an all-star group that President Trump has nominated."
