Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., told Newsmax on Saturday that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is "perfect for the job right now" to become secretary of Health and Human Services.
On Tuesday, Kennedy faced tough questioning from several Democrats regarding his stance on vaccines and whether he will sue pharmaceutical companies.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., took issue with Kennedy's stance, saying, "The bottom line is the same. Kennedy can kill off access to vaccines and make millions of dollars while he does it. Kids might die, but Robert Kennedy could keep cashing in."
Johnson told "Saturday Agenda" he was "disappointed how hostile the Democrats were."
"I really don't think Republicans were that hostile to a [President Joe] Biden or [President Barack] Obama nominee. But, again, Democrats are sore losers.
"All they want is power. And they'll do everything, anything to win," he said.
"But, no, I think you do find out some good things. For example, Bobby did a really good job of laying out exactly why he's perfect for the job right now."
The senator said Kennedy's experience in taking on the large pharmaceutical companies makes him the ideal candidate.
"So he has a Ph.D. in corporate capture of the agencies. That's exactly the kind of knowledge we need at this point in time — when we've seen agency after agency, department after department, captured by the corporate interests that they're really there to regulate and protect the public against.
"So, again, I thought he was quite, quite good," Johnson said.
