The former mayor, also a former U.S. attorney and personal attorney for President Donald Trump, suffered several injuries in the accident on Sunday, but doctors quickly determined he was stable enough to be discharged. His team described him as the "toughest fighter we know."
In the aftermath of his accident, Trump announced plans to award Giuliani the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. In his announcement, the president praised Giuliani as "the greatest Mayor in the history of New York City, and an equally great American Patriot."
