The agreements reached with Mexico and Canada on delaying the implementation of tariffs for 30 days after the two countries agreed to boost border security efforts were "classic Trump." Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., told Newsmax on Tuesday.
Perry, appearing on "Wake Up America", said that President Donald Trump "also knows what many Americans feel, that America has been left behind by its leaders for decades now. President Trump is not standing for it.
"We know and he knows that those other countries put their countries first, but he also knows that it is his job to put America first."
The congressman reiterated that Trump is using the leverage that he knows that the United States has to make sure that America is prosperous, safe, self-reliant, and independent.
Perry said it "is absolutely a fabulous sign — and a sign to the rest of the world: Trump ain't messing around. America is back and our leader is in place. If you are cross with America, it is time to get right and come to President Trump and make sure you are in the right place with the leader of the free world."
Regarding the nomination of Tulsi Gabbard to become director of national intelligence, Perry said that "she will be victorious and successful, as Tulsi is a capable individual [and] is focused on the nomination."
Perry, who is on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said that Gabbard is "an independent thinker in many ways, which is why her former Democratic Party would not have her."
