Israeli Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sharren Haskel called President Donald Trump's address to the Knesset a "remarkable" and "historic" moment for Israel, coinciding with the emotional return of freed hostages.
Appearing on Newsmax, Haskel praised Trump as "Israel's best friend," saying his speech struck at "very sensitive points" crucial to the Jewish state's security and survival.
"Wow, that has been an incredible historic moment," Haskel said on Newsmax's "National Report." "And trust me, the Jewish people remember historic times. It was absolutely remarkable. Israel doesn't have a better friend than President Donald Trump."
Haskel said Trump's remarks underscored Israel's key security challenges — especially the ongoing threat from Iran — and reaffirmed his understanding of Israel's existential concerns.
"He touched spot-on on very sensitive points that are so important to our people, including our security needs, Iran, and what could have happened if Iran wasn't dealt with and what a huge threat it would have been on humanity and on the world," she said.
The deputy minister noted that Trump's speech carried an emotional weight heightened by the simultaneous images of freed hostages reuniting with their families.
"During his speech, many images of those returning hostages coming back home — those videos of them hugging their families — made it so special and so emotional for us," Haskel said. "Really, this is a true historic moment."
