Turley to Newsmax: Two-State Solution 'Dead as a Doornail' Amid Gaza War

By    |   Sunday, 05 October 2025 09:11 AM EDT

President Donald Trump's efforts to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas could bring the war closer to resolution, but the idea of a two-state solution is not viable, political commentator Steve Turley said Sunday on Newsmax.

"Bibi Netanyahu is basically running out of rope," Turley said of the Israeli prime minister on Newsmax's "Wake Up America Weekend," adding that Israel is under incredible pressure after nearly two years of conflict.

"He's trying to fight multipronged offensives throughout the region, and at some point it's just bringing about an incredible exhaustion among Israeli forces," he said.

Hamas, however, is also weakening, he added. "Hamas is getting hammered literally every single day as well. I think it's in everyone's interest to bring this to an end."

Still, Turley said any hopes of reviving a two-state solution are gone.

"Unfortunately for the Palestinians, I think the two-state solution is about as dead as a doornail," he said. "That's never coming back at this point. They're going to have to learn how to live in some kind of harmony with the Israeli government and the other way around as well. It's going to be very challenging."

Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chair Jenny Beth Martin echoed that the path forward depends on Hamas' choices, especially the release of hostages.

"I am hopeful that they actually do release the hostages and that they do what they indicated they were going to do," she said. "If they don't, then they're going to face the consequences of that."

Martin emphasized that reconciliation requires the terrorist group to abandon its hostility toward Israel. "They're going to have to set aside their absolute bigotry and hatred of Jewish people and of Israel," she said. "That's something they must learn how to do so that they can live in harmony."

She added that the cost of the conflict has already been heavy.

"The loss of life on both sides has been very great," she said, recalling that she was on Newsmax the morning of the Oct. 7, 2023, attack. "It was completely unprovoked, and Israel had to defend itself."
