Buyers of the popular video-sharing app TikTok are lining up, Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., suggested to Newsmax.
On Monday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order postponing the app's ban for 75 days. Initially, the Justice Department was charged with enforcing the Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act, signed by former President Joe Biden in April. The law mandated the banning of the app starting Jan. 19, unless it is sold to a buyer in the U.S. — or one of its "allies," according to CNN.
Krishnamoorthi told "The Record with Greta Van Susteren" that "people like Mr. [Kevin] O'Leary of 'Shark Tank,'" former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and real estate mogul, "Frank McCourt, as well as Mr. Beast, Jimmy Donaldson" are looking to purchase the app.
"I think that Donald Trump hopefully can bring the buyers and of course, the seller, Bytedance, together. And now there's word that the Chinese Communist Party is open to a sale happening. So I think things are moving," the congressman added.
On Tuesday, Trump said he would be open to X owner Elon Musk or Oracle's Larry Ellison buying the app.
"I would be if he wanted to buy it, yeah," Trump replied to a reporter asking if he's open to Musk buying TikTok. "I'd like Larry to buy it, too."
