Incoming border czar Tom Homan blasted the TV show "The View," which he likened to the "island of misfit toys," for starting the misconception that he plans to deport U.S. citizens, telling Newsmax on Thursday that migrants in the country illegally will get deported, but their U.S.-born kids can stay if they want them to.
Homan joined "Rob Schmitt Tonight" to say the days of illegals gaming the country's immigration system by having children in the country are coming to an end.
His appearance came a night after CNN attempted to grill Homan with a question about his plans to separate mixed-status households and the repercussions of splitting up families.
"When you know you're in this country illegally and, in many cases, you know you've been ordered deported after getting due process, if you choose to have a child in this country, that's on you; you put yourself in that position," Homan said.
"So you can either leave the child here or take them with you. That's a parent's decision, and that's their decision only.
"But the ones where they ordered deportation, they're leaving. We're deporting them," he said.
Homan said he won't be deporting U.S. citizens when President-elect Donald Trump takes office on Jan. 20, 2025.
"And it all started on the show 'The View,' the island of misfit toys," Homan said, a reference to the 1964 TV movie "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."
"They're claiming I'm going to deport U.S. citizens. Look, I'm not deporting U.S. citizens. It's illegal to deport U.S. citizens," he said.
