South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson told Newsmax on Saturday that he was "100% supportive" of President-elect Donald Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, and his plan to carry out mass deportations on day one of the administration.
Speaking to "The Count" on Homan's mass deportation plan to deport the violent illegal migrants first, Wilson said, "I'm 100% supportive" of the prospective border czar.
"I actually spoke with Tom Homan about two weeks ago and told him that I look forward to working with him to do everything I can on day one, to start deporting those illegal aliens, especially the most violent."
But the first step the federal government should take, Wilson added, is to allow states to take the lead on mass deportations.
"States like Arizona [during] the Obama administration, and states like Texas during the Biden administration tried to pass laws supporting federal immigration policies, allowing state law enforcement to perform those functions. And we got sued by the Justice Department. Once that stops, states can actually help the federal government with these deportation policies, and that will be a major step forward."
