Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wis., told Newsmax on Friday that Democrats are "buying time" by delaying a vote on Kash Patel, President Donald Trump's nominee to lead the FBI, in order to "get something salacious" on him.
Senate Democrats on the Judiciary Committee on Thursday requested a delay of one week and for the panel to hold a second hearing on Patel's nomination, accusing him of making "false statements" during his first appearance.
Tiffany, appearing on "Wake Up America," on Friday that Democrats are "buying time" by delaying movement on Patel's nomination.
"I'll guarantee you they are out there digging anywhere, a la Justice [Brett] Kavanaugh a few years ago," Tiffany said on "Wake Up America," referring the allegations of attempted sexual assault made against Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearings.
"They're trying to find something in the next week. This is just buying time, trying to find something to derail someone who … was a public defender. He was a prosecutor. He worked for the Department of Defense."
Tiffany claimed that Patel "committed the ultimate sin in Democrat world when he exposed Russia collusion as being false, it being a hoax, and he helped save President Trump. And that's unforgivable by Senate Democrats."
