Guns, bombs, and the military won't solve the Russia-Ukraine war, retired U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Blaine Holt told Newsmax on Wednesday.
"I think we're going to be seeing a new approach coming after the Trump administration comes in," Holt told "American Agenda." "This hellscape is not getting solved militarily.
"Unfortunately, even on days like today, which are sacred and holy, they don't get a reprieve from war. It's very rare that we see something like that happen.
"So, you know, our prayers are with everyone in that battle space — with all the Ukrainian people, the children. But it won't get solved by another artillery shell arriving into the Ukrainian theater.
"That is now proven out. We're coming up on three years. Perhaps now we're going to find where the Russians are weak, use negotiation and leverage, and figure out what Europe needs and what Ukraine needs."
He focused on unity.
"We're all going to have to come together to put this poor country back together again. And honestly, these lives won't be fixed for decades and decades and generations," Holt said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that he was ready to compromise over Ukraine in possible talks with President-elect Donald Trump on ending the war and had no conditions for starting talks with the Ukrainian authorities.
