Sen. Vance to Newsmax: Haley's Ideas Lower Standard of Living

By    |   Wednesday, 17 January 2024 09:51 PM EST

In an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday, Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio, expressed his concerns about GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley's political platform, asserting that it would negatively impact the average American's standard of living.

Vance stated: "Nikki Haley’s entire platform if you think about it, is to make the average American lose the standard of living and lose economic value so that we can fund more and more adventurism overseas.

"That's a losing proposition electorally, and the people who say that Nikki Haley is somehow a better general election candidate than Donald Trump, I think they’ve lost their minds."

Speaking on "Eric Bolling The Balance," he further criticized Haley's policy positions: "Her policy platforms, such as it is, is that she wants us to become more and more reliant on China to make the critical things that we need, and then she wants us to fight a war with every country in the world.

"We are going to fight a war. If the Chinese make all the weapons that you would need to fight that war, how can we ensure that American families have safety and security if we can't even go to a pharmacy and get the drugs that our kids need? Because so many of those pharmaceuticals are made in overseas countries that hate us."

Vance questioned Haley's ability to withstand the Democratic onslaught, comparing it to Trump's resilience over the past six years: "You think that Nikki Haley is going to survive the Democratic onslaught of the next six months in the way that Donald Trump has already survived it for the past six years? It's completely insane."

In a final note, Vance acknowledged the possibility of Haley being a preferred candidate for some, saying: "Even if Nikki Haley is your preferred candidate, which I don't know why she would be ... look, maybe that's your choice. Whatever. I've obviously endorsed Donald Trump. But Donald Trump is the choice of the Republican electorate.

"He won the Iowa caucus by over 30 points. He may very well win every single primary state despite the fact that the Democrats are trying to take him down."

Meanwhile, Haley is shifting focus to New Hampshire after a third-place finish in Iowa. She vows a stronger campaign there, with a CBS News poll indicating she's the top alternative to Trump, garnering 29% compared to his 44% among likely GOP primary voters. Despite her popularity, Trump maintains a substantial lead over other Republicans, reported CBS News.
