Conservatives have long been frustrated with the current administration and want to know why there has been a drive to track down and arrest Jan. 6 protesters while ignoring those calling for the destruction of the United States.
Walid Phares, a former policy adviser for President-elect Donald Trump, is chief among them.
And he told Newsmax on Sunday that the policy leaves the United States exposed.
"The questions are so legitimate, but these questions should have applied since 2009 until 2017, with the eight years of former President [Barack] Obama, who instructed all these agencies to ignore … the ideology that is influencing and mobilizing these people who are calling for the caliphate," Phares said on Newsmax's "Sunday Agenda."
That means it's important to the incoming Trump administration to reverse processes that "were done since 2009 and repeated under the Biden administration," which is to hide everything that shows "that there is jihadism in America," said Phares. "We need to reverse that.
"What was done since 2009 and repeated under the Biden administration, which is to render anything that would show that there is jihadism in America and it's threatening our national security, has been eliminated from our educational system. We need to reverse that."
Phares added that he is "shocked" that the administration has not done more to fight jihadism, rather than leave the situation to the new Congress and President-elect Donald Trump to handle.
"What's happening in Syria, what's happening with Hamas, what's happening with Hezbollah and the Houthis?" he asked. "This administration is not really engaged in the confrontation … the agencies have the information, but guess what? It's the administration, political levels that are intercepting this information."
