Ukraine Adviser to Newsmax: Bridge Strike Shows 'We Do Have Cards'

By    |   Tuesday, 03 June 2025 10:38 AM EDT

Only two days after Ukraine launched Operation Spider Web and destroyed over 40 of Russia's long-range bombers, an underwater bomb was detonated early Tuesday morning, taking out Russia's Kerch Strait Bridge — a critical piece of infrastructure that connects occupied Crimea to Russia's Krasnodar Krai region.

Adviser to the Minister of Strategic Industries in Ukraine, Yuriy Sak told Newsmax that the back-to-back high value strikes show Ukrainians "still have cards" to play.

Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) released a statement immediately following the strike, "The operation lasted for several months. SBU agents mined the supports of this illegal construction," the agency said, adding that "without inflicting any civilian casualties, the first explosive was activated at 4:44 a.m."

"I would like to stress that just, you know, 15 minutes ago we had another successful operation carried out. We have again struck the Kerch Bridge, which connects Crimea — the Ukrainian Crimea — which is temporarily occupied by the Russians, connected with the Russian territory. So we will continue to do what we have to defend our country and demonstrate to the world that we do have cards," Sak said during an appearance on "Wake Up America."
