It will be a month of increased uncertainty in Ukraine as U.S. foreign policy in flux seems to be simultaneously promoting war and peace.

President-elect Donald Trump, who will be inaugurated on Jan. 20, has criticized the nearly $62 billion in U.S. military aid to Ukraine and promised to end the war quickly. He said Dec. 16 that he would speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about how to end the "carnage."
