On Dec.3, 2024, at 10:25 p.m. Korean Standard Time, a sudden declaration of martial law by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol sent shockwaves throughout South Korea and the world.
However, in a swift turn of events, the opposition party, known as the Democratic Party (DP), managed to bypass army soldiers and enter the National Assembly. They conducted a vote, with 190 out of 300 legislators voting to lift the martial law.
