With medical experts saying the seriousness of Joe Biden's cancer diagnosis must have been known well before the former president left office in January, Donald Trump Jr. asked whether former first lady Jill Biden took part in a "cover-up."
Biden's office announced Sunday that the former president has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Prostate cancers are given a rating called a Gleason score that measures, on a scale of 1 to 10, how the cancerous cells look compared with normal cells. Biden's office said his score was 9, suggesting his cancer is among the most aggressive.
"It is inconceivable that this was not being followed before he left the presidency," Dr. Howard Forman, a professor at the Yale School of Medicine, wrote on X. "Gleason grade 9 would have had an elevated PSA level for some time before this diagnosis. And he must have had a PSA test numerous times before. This is odd."
Forman added, "I wish him well and hope he has an opportunity for maximizing his quality of life."
Dr. Steven Quay, founder of Atossa Therapeutics, said Biden's score indicated that "it would be malpractice for this patient to show up and be first diagnosed with metastatic disease in May 2025. It is highly likely [Biden] was carrying a diagnosis of prostate cancer throughout his White House tenure, and the American people were uninformed."
Trump Jr. shared Quay's post on X and asked, "What I want to know is how did Dr. Jill Biden miss Stage 5 metastatic cancer, or is this yet another cover-up???"
Recent publications and books have focused on how the mainstream media and Democrats covered up Biden's physical limitations and declining mental acuity during his presidency.
One Biden family insider and former press secretary for Jill Biden, Michael LaRosa, told Fox News that people surrounding the former president, especially in the East Wing of the White House, were unwilling to be transparent.
Joe Biden had been atop the Democratic Party's national ticket until a disastrous debate performance against President Donald Trump convinced party leaders to replace Biden as the nominee and force him to drop out.
On Friday, Axios first reported that audio of Biden's October 2023 interviews with special counsel Robert Hur included the president's memory lapses and appeared to validate Hur's assertion that jurors in a trial likely would have viewed Biden as "a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."
The alleged cover-up of Biden's physical and mental states while in office very well could be an issue for Democrats in the midterms and in the 2028 presidential election. Many of the party's leaders, to varying degrees, defended the former president before his infamous debate effort.
