Trump Signs Proclamation Honoring US Border Patrol

By    |   Tuesday, 27 May 2025 03:05 PM EDT

President Donald Trump has proclaimed May 28 a day of celebration of the 101st anniversary of the U.S. Border Patrol.

In a post on X, Trump swiped at former President Joe Biden in the process. "Shockingly, President Biden and the democrats refused to celebrate and honor them and therefore would not sign a Proclamation celebrating this great achievement and all they have done for this Country!"

Trump's proclamation said Biden went out of his way to circumvent the Border Patrol. "Unfortunately, the last administration in an extraordinary act of deception and betrayal, imported an army of unvetted illegal aliens, including violent criminals, thugs, gang members and terrorists."

Trump said many illegal immigrants allowed entry into America came from "the darkest and most dangerous parts of the world."

Since taking office for his second term, Trump said the southern border is a changed place. "Daily border encounters dropped 95%, and migrant crossings declined by an astounding 99.99%."

He said drug trafficking has also been impacted by his policies, as "fentanyl traffic fell by 54% compared to March of the previous year."

At its Valor Memorial and Wreath Laying Ceremony on May 16 in Washington, Customs and Border Protection honored the sacrifice of 11 employees who lost their lives in the line of service.
