Christie Compares Ramaswamy to Obama

By    |   Wednesday, 23 August 2023 10:06 PM EDT

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in Wednesday night's Republican presidential debate blasted entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy for reminding him of former President Barack Obama.

Christie interrupted the debate after non-career politician Ramaswamy said "more people are dying of bad climate-change policies than they are of actual climate change."

"I've had enough already tonight of a guy who sounds like [artificial intelligence chatbot] ChatGPT standing up here," Christie said. "The last person in one of these debates who stood in the middle of the stage and said what's a skinny guy with an odd last name doing up here was Barack Obama, and I 'm afraid we are dealing with the same type of amateur standing on the stage tonight."

With the crowd offering a loud mixed reaction, Ramaswamy smiled while looking at Christie and said, "Give me a hug just like you did to Obama. You will help elect me just like you did to Obama."

"The same type of amateur," Christie responded.

Former U.N. Ambassador and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley then chimed in, pointing to her right, where Christie and Ramaswamy were positioned.

"I think this is exactly why [former British Prime Minister] Margaret Thatcher said if you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman," Haley said.
