Schumer Calls on Trump to Declassify UFOs

By    |   Thursday, 23 January 2025 07:54 PM EST

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., called on President Donald Trump to declassify federal government records on UFOs, which the government calls "unidentified anomalous phenomena."

Schumer was responding to Trump's announcement of the declassification of the assassination files of John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr.

"Now do UFOs," Schumer posted on X, sharing the White House's post.

Schumer and Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., last year introduced the Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Disclosure Act, an amendment to the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act; but the provision was stripped out. The pair first introduced UAPDA in July 2023.

Part of the bill said that "all Federal Government records concerning unidentified anomalous phenomena should carry a presumption of immediate disclosure and all records should be eventually disclosed to enable the public to become fully informed about the history of the Federal Government's knowledge and involvement surrounding unidentified anomalous phenomena."
