Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., told Newsmax on Friday that President Joe Biden has let federal employees “do whatever they want” as the push to have workers return to the office has been re-examined.
Last week, a union representing thousands of federal employees secured a work from home deal prior to the incoming administration of President-elect Trump. The American Federation of Government Employees reached an agreement with the Social Security Administration to protect telework for its 42,000 government employees until 2029. Comer said the government was “never known for being efficient."
“Since Joe Biden has become president, he's just let the federal employees do whatever they want. And obviously they don't want to have to go to work. They don't want to have to fight the traffic. They don't have to clean up. You know, they want to sit at home if they want to sleep late and wear their pajamas all day and work at their own pace, then they're doing that,” he said during an appearance on “Finnerty.”
Comer, who will be returning as chair of the House Oversight Committee said he proposed a bill requiring federal employees to return to work but “it never saw the light of day” in the Senate.
“And now with Joe Biden on the way out he's saying, OK, federal employees, state, federal employees union, you do whatever you want. You be happy. Thanks for your support. And just don't even worry about going to work under Donald Trump,” Comer added.
