Trump Calls on Tennessee's 'America First Patriots' to Vote for Van Epps

By    |   Tuesday, 02 December 2025 07:56 AM EST

President Donald Trump made a last-minute push Monday for Republican Matt Van Epps ahead of Tuesday's special election in Tennessee's 7th Congressional District, using a Truth Social post to urge supporters to turn out at the polls on Tuesday.

"I am asking all America First Patriots in Tennessee's 7th Congressional District to please GET OUT AND VOTE TOMORROW for a phenomenal Candidate, Matt Van Epps, on Election Day, Tuesday, December 2nd!" Trump said.

"You can win this Election for MAGA Warrior Matt Van Epps, who has my Complete and Total Endorsement. HE WILL BE A GREAT CONGRESSMAN and, unlike his Opponent, he cherishes Christianity and Country Music — She has openly stated that she hates them both!"

Trump also provided information about polling locations and hours.

"TN-07: Polls open in all Counties no later than 9:00 A.M., but some open as early as 7:00 A.M. Polls close at 7:00 P.M. IF YOU ARE IN LINE BY 7 P.M., STAY IN LINE, AND THEY MUST LET YOU VOTE! Election Day is TOMORROW, December 2nd. GET OUT AND VOTE, VOTE, VOTE FOR MATT VAN EPPS — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN! Find your voting location and hours at: swampthevoteusa.com/tennessee/."

Van Epps, a former commissioner of the Tennessee Department of General Services, is facing Democrat state Rep. Aftyn Behn in the contest for the open seat, which was vacated after former Rep. Mark Green resigned on July 21.

He is pursuing a private-sector opportunity with his new cloud-computing company, Prosimo, which aims to reduce Chinese Communist Party influence on the internet and in America.

Tennessee's sprawling 7th Congressional District runs from the Kentucky border to the Alabama line and includes portions of North and West Nashville.

Though long considered safely Republican, the race has drawn heavy Democrat spending and high-profile surrogates seeking to flip a House seat, with Republicans holding a narrow majority in this Congress.

There are currently 219 Republicans and 213 Democrats in the House.

There are three vacancies included in that count, including Green's seat, but the other two may also draw intensified focus in special elections as Republicans look for additional opportunities to expand their margin.

Rep. Sylvester Turner, D-Texas, died March 5, and Rep. Mikie Sherrill, D-N.J., resigned Nov. 20 after winning the New Jersey governor's race earlier this month.
