President Donald Trump on Wednesday tore into The New York Times after the newspaper published a story suggesting he is showing signs of fatigue in his second term.
Trump dismissed the report as a politically motivated smear and accused the Times of deliberately distorting his health and energy level.
In a lengthy Truth Social post, Trump said, "The Creeps at the Failing New York Times are at it again," blasting the article as a "hit piece on me that I am perhaps losing my Energy, despite facts that show the exact opposite."
He said the Times is "truly an 'ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE,'" and singled out reporter Katie Rogers as "a third-rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out."
The Times story examined Trump's schedule, public appearances, and what it described as signs of physical slowing, reflecting renewed scrutiny of the 79-year-old president's stamina.
It noted that aides have increasingly shielded Trump from long, late-day events and that observers have raised questions about whether he is showing the natural effects of age.
Trump forcefully rejected the premise, pointing to what he calls the achievements of his second term.
"I won the 2024 Presidential Election in a Landslide … I settled 8 Wars, have 48 New Stock Market Highs, our Economy is Great," he wrote. "To do this requires a lot of Work and Energy, and I have never worked so hard in my life."
He also claimed recent medical evaluations prove the Times wrong.
"There will be a day when I run low on Energy … but with a PERFECT PHYSICAL EXAM AND A COMPREHENSIVE COGNITIVE TEST ('That was aced') JUST RECENTLY TAKEN, it certainly is not now!"
Trump concluded by arguing that voters aren't buying the Times narrative, saying he has "my highest Poll Numbers, ever," and that support will only rise as investment pours into the U.S. economy.
