New York City Mayor Eric Adams is scheduled to meet with President-elect Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday.
The announcement of the meeting, which reportedly did not appear on Adams' public schedule, came Thursday evening.
"Mayor Adams has made quite clear his willingness to work with President-elect Trump and his incoming administration on behalf of New Yorkers — and that partnership with the federal government is critical to New York City's success," Fabien Levy, the mayor's spokesman, said in a statement.
"Tomorrow, Mayor Adams will sit down with President-elect Trump and discuss New Yorkers' priorities. The mayor looks forward to having a productive conversation with the incoming president on how we can move our city and country forward."
Adams was traveling to Florida on Thursday night, The New York Times reported.
Adams met with Tom Homan last month, a meeting that the incoming border czar told Newsmax was a "good day" due to the mayor's willingness and eagerness to work with the Trump administration on deporting illegal immigrants who have committed crimes in the city.
Trump has also indicated a willingness to pardon Adams, who is under indictment on five charges of bribery, corruption, wire fraud, soliciting, and accepting donations from foreign nationals. The trial is set for April.
"I think that he was treated pretty unfairly," Trump said.
"Now I haven't seen the gravity of it all, but it seems, you know, like being upgraded in an airplane many years ago. I know probably everybody here has been upgraded."
