Rep. Comer's Biden 'Cover-Up' Probe Seeks Interviews of 5, Including Doctor

The investigation into who was "running the country" under then-President Joe Biden, the use of "autopen" and the "cover-up" of his cognitive decline and advanced "aggressive" cancer took another step toward transparency, oversight, accountability and the pursuit of truth Thursday.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., has sent letters to five prominent Biden administration officials to appear for transcribed interviews in June: Dr. Kevin O'Connor, former Domestic Policy Council Director Neera Tanden, and three prominent White House aides.

"The cover-up of President Biden's obvious mental decline is a historic scandal," Comer wrote in a statement releasing the five letters seeking "voluntary" interviews. "The American people deserve to know when this decline began, how far it progressed and who was making critical decisions on his behalf.

"Key executive actions signed by autopen, such as sweeping pardons for the Biden Crime Family, must be examined considering President Biden's diminished capacity."

"Today, we are calling on President Biden's physician and former White House advisers to participate in transcribed interviews so we can begin to uncover the truth," added Comer.

While the interviews are requested as voluntary, Comer vowed action against further "obstruction."

"In the last Congress, the Biden White House blocked these individuals from providing testimony to the Oversight Committee as part of the effort to cover-up Biden's declining
health," Comer's statement continued.

"Any continued obstruction will be met with swift and decisive action. The American people demand transparency and accountability now."

Two of the five are scheduled to come later in June after the White House aides are heard from (with the reasons for their participation quoted from the individual letters):

  • Dr. O'Connor requested to appear June 25:
    • "The committee continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding your assessment in February 2024 that former President Biden was 'a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency.' Further, the committee remains interested in whether your financial relationship with the Biden family affected your assessment of former President Biden's physical and mental fitness to fulfill his duties as president."
  • Tanden requested to appear June 18:
    • "The committee remains concerned that you, as both director of the DPC and staff secretary, were involved in running interference on behalf of the former president and perhaps performing duties exclusively reserved for the President of the United States. … the committee seeks to understand the extent of your influence over the former president and your knowledge of whether the former president was personally discharging the duties of his office."

But first, Comer's committee seeks to set the table before those two primary interviews, getting insight and detail for oversight for three aides "running interference" and "performing duties" of the president, examining their "influence" on White House actions:

  • Anthony Bernal requested to appear June 6:
    • "The committee remains concerned that you, as both assistant to the president and the first lady's confidant, were involved in running interference on behalf of the former president and perhaps performing duties exclusively reserved for the President of the United States."
  • Annie Tomasini requested to appear June 6:
    • "The committee remains concerned that you, as assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff, were involved in running interference on behalf of the former president and perhaps performing duties exclusively reserved for the President of the United States."
  • Ashley Williams requested to appear June 2:
    • "The committee remains concerned that you, as deputy assistant and senior adviser to the president and director of strategic outreach, were involved in running interference on behalf of the former president and perhaps performing duties exclusively reserved for the President of the United States."

"Five people were running the country, and Joe Biden was at best a senior member of the board," according to one person familiar with the inner workings of the Biden White House quoted in the book "Original Sin," Comer's press release noted.

The five are ordered to "confirm your appearance as soon as possible but no later than May 29." In the case of the three aides, the Biden administration blocked their testimony July 10, just three days before the assassination attempt on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump.

"The committee originally sought your voluntary cooperation on Oct. 11, 2023, and then compelled your appearance with a subpoena for a deposition on July 10, 2024, but the former White House obstructed the committee's investigation and prevented your testimony," the letter reads, portending a warning for advanced action if voluntary participation is denied.
