One of President Donald Trump's primary House GOP nemeses will potentially face a Trump-backed primary challenger in 2026.
"Thomas Massie, the worst Republican Congressman, and an almost guaranteed no vote each and every time, is an embarrassment to Kentucky," Trump wrote in a scathing Truth Social post Monday night.
"He's lazy, slow moving, and totally disingenuous – A real loser! Never has anything positive to add."
Massie says he is a fiscal hawk and voted against the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) and other bills that raise the debt ceiling, but he conspicuously voted for a debt ceiling raise while former President Joe Biden was in office in 2023. Trump decried the House GOP members giving Democrats an out on spending and debt just before the 2024 election, ultimately forcing his administration to deal with the debt can being kicked down the road.
"Looking for someone good to run against this guy, someone I can endorse and vigorously campaign for!" Trump's Truth Social post concluded.
Trump's post linked to the @FireThomasMassie Truth Social account, which ran a 30-second ad announcing the intentions to primary the Kentucky Republican in 2026.
"What happened to Thomas Massie?" the ad began. "When did he decide to vote with radical Democrats?
"Massie voted against President Trump's tax cuts. Massie voted against finishing Trump's wall. Massie even voted against Trump's ban on taxpayer funds for sex changes for minors."
The ad finishes with Trump standing with a smirking House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., in the halls of the Capitol Building as he was pitching the passage of the OBBB.
"I don't think Thomas Massie understands government," Trump said in the clip. "I think he's a grandstander. I think he should be voted out of office."
The video concludes with saying MAGA Kentucky brought the ad forward.
"Let's fire Thomas Massie," it concludes.
