DeSantis Rips Migrant Lawsuit, Biden for Treating Them 'Horribly'

By    |   Wednesday, 21 September 2022 12:16 PM EDT

After being served with a class-action lawsuit by migrants he flew to Martha's Vineyard, Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis blasted President Joe Biden for treating migrants "horribly."

"Those migrants are being treated horribly by Biden," DeSantis told a news conference Tuesday. "They were hungry, homeless; they had no opportunity at all.

"It was volunteer, offered transport to sanctuary jurisdictions, because it's our view that, one, the border should be secured, and we want to have Biden reinstitute policies like 'remain in Mexico' and make sure that people aren't overwhelming."

DeSantis also ripped the hypocrisy of sanctuary cities like Chicago and New York for complaining they are being overrun by migrants flown in from border states.

"If you believe in open borders, and this is, sanctuary jurisdictions that should have to bear the brunt of the open borders," DeSantis added. "So that's what we're doing."

The lawsuit against DeSantis claims the illegal immigrants were made promises of jobs and gift cards and not told where they were headed.

"No human being should be used as a political pawn," Lawyers for Civil Rights Executive Director Ivan Espinoza-Madrigal wrote in the lawsuit filed in Boston, the New York Post reported.

DeSantis noted he "didn't hear a peep out of people" when Biden was flying migrants from the southern border in the dead of night.

"The only thing I hear them getting upset about is you have 50 that ended up in Martha's Vineyard, then they get really upset," DeSantis told his news conference.

"They were provided an ability to be in the most posh sanctuary jurisdiction maybe in the world," DeSantis added. "Martha's Vineyard people deported them the next day.

"They could’ve absorbed this. They chose not to. But what it shows is if 50 was a burden on one of the richest places in our country, what about all these other communities that have been overrun with hundreds or thousands?"
