President Donald Trump blamed Joe Biden's White House team of "treasonous thugs" for hijacking control of the country due to the then-president's declining mental state.
In a social media post Tuesday, Trump said Biden's team committed "treason" by opening the southern border to "criminals of all kinds, shapes, and sizes."
"Joe Biden was not for Open Borders, he never talked about Open Borders, where criminals of all kinds, shapes, and sizes, can flow into our Country at will. It wasn't his idea to Open the Border, and almost destroy our Country, and cost us Hundreds of Billions of Dollars to get criminals out of our Country, and go through the process we are going through now," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
"It was the people that knew he was cognitively impaired, and that took over the Autopen. They stole the Presidency of the United States, and put us in Great Danger."
Trump then accused the people surrounding Biden of committing "TREASON at the Highest Level!"
"They did it to destroy our Country," Trump wrote. "The Joe Biden that everybody knew would never allow drug dealers, gang members, and the mentally insane to come into our Country totally unchecked and unvetted. All anyone has to do is look up his record.
"Something very severe should happen to these Treasonous Thugs that wanted to destroy our Country, but couldn't, because I came along. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
Biden's mental and physical states during his presidency again are receiving much attention, first with recent articles and books concerning how allies and other Democrats ignored or hid the former president's obvious limitations, and then after it was announced during the weekend that the 82-year-old Biden has aggressive prostate cancer.
While visiting Capitol Hill on Tuesday, Trump said he will investigate Biden using an autopen during his time in the White House.
"We're going to start looking into this whole thing with who signed this legislation," Trump told reporters. "Who signed legislation opening our border? I don't think [Biden] knew. I said, 'There's nobody that can want an open border. Nobody.' And now I find out that it wasn't him. He autopenned it."
Trump said he wants to know who was operating the autopen.
"This is a very serious thing," Trump said. "We had a president that didn't sign anything. He autopenned almost anything. He opened the borders of the United States of America."
