Startled Trump: 'You Get Yips up Here Every Once in a While'

By    |   Sunday, 22 December 2024 01:34 PM EST

President-elect Donald Trump, in a lighter moment during his Turning Point Action's America Fest speech in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday, joked about the dangers of his public speaking when he heard a loud, unusual sound.

"What the hell was that?" Trump told his young conservative voters in a speech that aired in part Sunday on Newsmax and the free Newsmax2 streaming platform.

"You get the little yips up here every once in a while. I wonder why?"

Trump narrowly dodged death July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, rally that preceded the Republican National Convention by less than 30 hours and by the ultimate resignation of President Joe Biden's campaign by just over one week.

"That was a strange sound," Trump joked. "I've heard some very strange sounds."
